Genevieve Piturro, founder of the non-profit organization Pajama Program is on a new journey to share her positivity with the world. Her recently launched book, Purpose, Passion, And Pajamas, is a call to action for others to join the “Lead With Purpose” movement. The Best Of Everything New York (TBOENY) was lucky to catch up with Genevieve at the start of her book tour to chat about her life in New York, paying it forward, and her love of Mary Tyler Moore.
Climbing the corporate ladder is second nature for countless professionals in the tristate area. The hustle and bustle of Manhattan is something that many aspire to be a part of. Genevieve Piturro was one of those dreamers. She worked hard to build a modern, urban career as a media marketing executive, much like Mary Richards had done on The Mary Tyler Moore Show.
While working through her thirties, Genevieve’s inner voice was nudging her in a new direction towards helping children. She decided to volunteer to read bedtime stories for children in need at a New York City shelter. A chance encounter at the shelter and a compelling question from a special young girl changed the trajectory of Genevieve’s life and career forever.
Genevieve’s new book, Purpose, Passion, And Pajamas, is the captivating story of how she found her true calling, built a successful non-profit organization that has distributed over 7 million pairs of children’s pajamas, and how she learned to lead with empathy, passion, and purpose.
Genevieve is also an accomplished speaker and consultant. She shares her leadership lessons with audiences around the globe and has appeared on The Oprah Winfrey Show, The Today Show, Good Morning America, and Fox & Friends. She’s a tried and true New Yorker who believes the energy of the city offers an excitement and culture that can’t be found anywhere else in the world.
